Visiting my hometown in Germany after a long period of absence, I anxiously anticipated to feel a connection to the familiar places my memories where longing for.
Yet visiting these places left me strangely hollow; surprised by how little they still meant to me, I felt like a stranger. Not feeling out of place, but somewhat disconnected. A sense of quiet sadness creeps into my memories like strong-bodied purple clouds of past tense. Should this be it? Have I lost my roots?
Attempting to give my disappearing memories a visual body to preserve them for the future, this ongoing body of work deals with the physical and mental connection and disconnection of mind, body and place.
